Are you tired of the same old mainline action? Break away to some fabulous short line and industrial railroads in one of the most beautiful areas in the U.S.! C. Vision Productions takes you to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and northern Wisconsin in "Rails Through the North Country!"
The first railroad we visit is the Lake Superior and Ishpeming in the Marquette, Michigan region. This ore hauler operates trains with a fleet of ex-Burlington Northern General Electric U-30C and C-30 dash 7 locomotives. Former Wisconsin Central, now Canadian National, ore trains from Escanaba, along with the L'Anse Local also operate over the LS&I. These trains continued using W.C. locomotives at the time of our visit.
Next, we chase the Channing to Crivitz turn on the Escanaba and Lake Superior. In the summer of 2003, the E&LS leased a classic power set from the Lake Superior Railroad Museum located in Duluth, Minnesota. We capture both mainline and in-cab action of the Erie Mining F-9 and Soo Line GP-30 in northern Wisconsin. Plus we catch E&LS's Baldwin RS-12, number 300, working in Escanaba, Michigan.
Then it's off to the Michigan Limestone Operations quarry at Port Inland, Michigan. It is here that Chicago & Illinois Midland SD-20's handle limestone trains on an 8-mile line from the quarry to the crusher.
Awesome scenery and awesome trains. Enjoy the thrill of railroading in "Rails Through the North Country!"
